AMHERST, MA, June 8/PRNewswire/ - OrthoLite, the leader in open-cell foam insoles, has partnered with PUMA to incorporate its proprietary EcoOrthoLite insole technology into its performance and lifestyle footwear line. By the beginning of 2011, one-third of PUMA shoes will have the unparalleled advantages of OrthoLite performance, including breathability, moisture control, antibacterial properties and long-term cushioning.

PUMA will be the first major brand to adopt OrthoLite's new eco-friendly insole series. EcoOrthoLite uses environmentally friendly, non-food-derived bio-oil as a substitute for traditional fossil fuel raw materials. Bio-oil replaces 20% of the petroleum traditionally used in polyurethane foam polyol components, making the formulation a part of a clean, renewable resource.

In April 2010, PUMA announced the next phase of the company's long-term sustainability plan, including the introduction of the PUMA Sustainability Index (S-Index) standard as a benchmark for sustainable products. Accordingly, PUMA has set a goal that by 2015, 50% of the PUMA International series will be produced in accordance with the PUMA S-Index standard, using sustainable materials and applying best practice production processes.

"We are excited about this important partnership with PUMA," said Pamela Gelsomini, President of OrthoLite. "OrthoLite's inherent properties of strength, breathability, moisture transport and antibacterial functions provide consumers with greater comfort, resulting in PUMA's well-known quality and performance."

Consumers can easily identify the style that provides OrthoLite comfort by looking for the logo on the insole. PUMA shoes can be purchased in company stores, retailers nationwide, or by visiting www.puma.com.
