The Ministry of Finance has imposed final anti-dumping duties on linear alkyl benzene (LAB) imports from China, Iran and Qatar.
LAB is an important raw material for the production of detergent bars and washing powder.
Tamilnadu Petroproducts Ltd and Nirma Ltd have submitted petitions calling for the levy of anti-dumping duties on LAB imports from China, Qatar and Iran.
In addition to the petitioners, two other LAB producers in India-Indian Petroleum Corporation and Reliance Industries Limited-also supported the petition.
The anti-dumping duties levied by the tax authorities range from US$23.78 per ton to US$300.22 per ton, depending on the producers and exporters in these countries.
The Ministry of Finance also imposes final anti-dumping duties on flexible block polyols imported from Thailand.
Flexible block polyol is the key raw material for manufacturing polyurethane products. It is used to make slab foam and polyurethane foam mattresses.
The anti-dumping duties levied by the tax authorities range from "zero" to US$135.40 per ton.
